The astrology of the Boris Johnson UK leadership crisis July 2022

After a few weeks break, we’re back with plenty of things to review in the light of what I’ve said here before and also new, emerging events.

But there is no competition for our first topic. The UK government situation at the moment is both horrifying and hilarious.

Others will be looking at Boris Johnson’s chart. I did so back in late 2021, and interested readers can look back at the picture formed then. But I am more interested in how this is playing out for the UK itself.

I set the chart for yesterday when the first two cabinet ministers announced their resignations. But anytime in the last couple of days would work. I won’t therefore spend time on the chart angles, though we will touch on the, fast moving, moon.

Immediately apparent is the Jupiter conjunct the Descendant. Now I confess if I was predicting in advance I would state that this had something to do with the country’s relations with others ( other countries that is). However in this case it appears to relate to the country’s relation with its own leader. Normally you would expect them to be broadly aligned but not now. Boris represented by Jupiter is par for the course given his personality.

Also notable is that the Sun has crossed the Midheaven in the last few days after opposing the natal Sun symbolising that it has been a critical time for the leadership.

But let’s take a step back and look at the wider picture in the chart.

Pluto has made a recent quincunx to the progressed Saturn ( currently activated by the progressed Moon) this indicates transformation at government level, and has perhaps played out though Brexit and the challenges of the current administration. Neptune at 25 degrees and approaching the same configuration suggests that there will still be wider issues for the country to resolve regardless of the outcome of this week. The fact that Pluto then Neptune will aspect the UK Uranus over the coming few years suggests that there is more excitement to come. The 1801 chart has not previously had Pluto at that point and has only once seen Neptune there, so it will undoubtedly be transformational and something we can look at again in the coming years.

Transiting Uranus at 17 Taurus is where the immediate action is at though. Uranus is disruptive change and so it is not surprising to see it is square the UK progressed Sun. The Leadership. If I were to pick one reliable indicator for nation astrology it is the presence of Uranus in hard aspect to the Sun as the sign of a dramatic leadership change. As the Sun will reach 17 Cancer by the weekend, I think the current immediate leadership situation will be resolved by Monday.

It is concerning that Uranus also opposes the UK natal Neptune, this is not a stable sign for the currency.  It has been and will continue to be square the natal Venus and progressed MC, indicating economic and other disruption too for at least the rest of this year.  Neptune here also has a connection with the NHS.

As an aside we see that Uranus is also in a quincunx to Mercury, a signification of recent transport disruptions and other media and education changes.

So Currency (treasury matters), Health, Education; all areas impacted by the resignations and changes. You know we love it when an astrology plan comes together.

Then we have transiting Saturn. It is opposite the natal Saturn ( within a degree). The difficulties for the government have been ongoing for some months and it isn’t over until Saturn leaves Aquarius early next year, Boris or no Boris.

Looking at the short term triggers. We’ve already seen the impact of the transiting Sun. But we also note that this week both Mars and Mercury were in aspect to the progressed Uranus, indicating the lies and the disputes that have been activated. Yesterday they both changed signs but are now aspecting the natal Uranus. Boom, it all blew up.

Finally we can take a quick look at the Moon. In my chart she is at 27 Virgo at on the transiting MC as well as progressed Uranus. Over the last 24 hours she has moved into Libra and crossed the Ascendant around midday – PM question time. It will now move on to reach 17 degrees by tomorrow morning. It seems like the inevitable is just unfolding now.
