The astrology of the Italian election September 2022
And so we move on. We’ve not been in Italy for a year and at that time things were looking surprisingly rosy. But the planets move on and nothing is for ever.
In my forecast elsewhere I wrote:
September to December [2022] is another time of shifts – This one is even more interesting as it affects the image of the country back to 1993 [As the Ascendant progresses into a new sign]- the time of the bribe scandals. Perhaps issues relating to this have an impact on the country’s finances now. It certainly unsettles the people and must be looked at in the light of that conflict indicator. There is also the continued theme regarding something weakening or undermining the country ( note that [the latter] is a 12 year cycle so not by itself huge)
Given Ms Meloni is described as the most right wing since Mussolini, perhaps I should have referenced 1939 not 93! You might say that, I couldn’t possibly comment. What I can do is tell you what the astrology is saying.
The end of election day coincided with the New Moon, itself a sign of endings and new beginnings. So no surprises that it brought with it some changes. That these would be magnified is indicated by the opposition of the New Moon to Jupiter. All that and we haven’t even mentioned the Italian chart itself.
Of course the configuration has to be prominent and it is, just past the Midheaven and conjunct the progressed Venus opposition Neptune. It is square the progressed Ascendant mentioned above.
Progressed Venus has only been in Libra for a few months- another major shift. With Venus opposite Neptune I would expect some financial shenanigans to occur though whether these will be visible depends on other factors.
As Meloni’s win was not expected until relatively near election day, we should expect to find a Uranus transit somewhere or other. And of course we do. Uranus is conjunct the Italian Mars, and square its Jupiter but we also see an almost double whammy with Mars close to the progressed Venus. Not surprising then to see surprise wins of a somewhat militant party (brothers is literally in the name).
Of course, alongside the Uranus 18 degrees Taurus position is the square to Saturn at 19 Aquarius. And don’t forget that this is the degree of the upcoming eclipse. I doubt things will settle down easily with the new government. But they hardly ever do in Italy do they?
This uncertainty is also suggested by the Mercury retrograde. We’ve seen what this can do to elections in the US. I am not convinced we are seeing the final picture in Italy yet.
Another related thing to note in the chart, that resonates to a similar theme of “brothers” is the conjunction of the progressed Sun and Mars also at 2 degrees ( of Virgo in this case). Remember how this combined with Jupiter in early Pisces was so positive, Jupiter has moved on and is now opposite that new Moon blessing the new leader. But that is a temporary thing too and it will regress back to late Pisces soon with some of the glamour rapidly wearing off this new government.
Yet another indicator of major change is the Pluto sextile to the Sun and trine the Moon. Although we see a big shift in the mood, this has happened relatively peacefully unlike it would if this was a square aspect. Hopefully it will stay that way.
Neptune will shortly cross the Italian Sun in 2023-24 so I suspect the situation will remain fluid for some while or there will be major deception afoot. On the other hand sometimes Neptune relates to unsubstantiated glory so perhaps we will see a couple of years of leader worship before the specs come off. A more detailed look at the upcoming few years charts would tell us, but that’s not the purpose of this analysis…….
